Honda Classic 2024: PGA Tour Kicks Off Florida Swing at PGA National
The PGA Tour moves to the Florida Swing, starting with the Honda Classic at PGA National. This historic tournament, which began in 1972, offers a $8 million purse with $1.44 million going to the winner along with 500 FedEx Cup points.
The Champions Course at PGA National presents one of tour's most demanding tests. The 7,045-yard par-72 layout features water hazards on nearly every hole and includes the infamous "Bear Trap" (holes 15-17), which played 230 strokes over par last year.
Defending champion Matt Jones returns after his dominant five-stroke victory in 2021, where he matched Rickie Fowler's tournament record of 12-under par. This year's field includes twelve of the world's top-50 players, headlined by:
- Louis Oosthuizen (#13)
- Brooks Koepka
- Joaquin Niemann
- Daniel Berger
- Billy Horschel
Notable past champions competing include:
- Sungjae Im (2020)
- Keith Mitchell (2019)
- Padraig Harrington (2015)
- Rickie Fowler (2017)
Betting Favorites:
- Sungjae Im (+1000): Won in 2020, T8 in 2021
